Datafy Tally Implementation Guidelines
Tally by Datafy is a hardware device installed at your location. This guide will walk you through the proper setup, mounting, and verification of your new device.
How does Tally work?
Tally is a smart proximity sensor designed to determine the number of devices and people within a 250-foot radius, with privacy built into its foundation.
In short, Tally:
- Captures real-world presence directly from nearby smart device signals.
- Models captured signals to provide accurate crowd size estimates on a minute-by-minute basis.
- Does not collect personally identifiable information (PII) and cannot be used to identify or track individuals.
- Is fully encrypted, protecting all stored and transmitted data.
What insights will Tally provide?
Tally provides accurate, privacy-compliant attendee estimates for events and spaces of any footprint:
- Reliable estimates for venues of any size or shape and multi-site events
- Minute-by-minute crowd estimates
When paired with our big data analytics suite, Tally can provide a holistic and robust snapshot of your event's performance.
How does reporting work?
Build your report at any time, directly from the Datafy portal. Reports are typically ready within 3 business days of your request.
Note: Some reports may take longer to become available depending on the number of sensors or length of the event period. Datafy will notify you when your report is ready.
Know-Before-You-Install
- Device & Installation: The device measures 6" x 4" x 2.5" and can be installed either indoors or outdoors using the included wall-mount screws or more temporary solutions like zip ties (not included).
- Plan for Power: Tally requires continuous power to operate. You will need access to a standard wall outlet. If you don't have access to a wall outlet, you may use temporary battery banks (not included). Read more.
- Internet Connectivity: If wireless internet is available, we recommend connecting to your network. If not, the device will automatically connect via an LTE/5G cellular network and transmit data the moment it receives power.
- The standard cellular network is AT&T and is included as part of the subscription. Verizon network is also available upon request (additional cost).
